Season 01

2009 - 2010

Bolt TV was founded, under the guidance of Mr. Hayes, in the Fall of 2009 by Senior Josh Francis along with Alex Barbarian, Nikki Cram, Chelsea Finder, Sara Petersen, and Ellie Morrissey.

Initially a club with limited equipment but unlimited enthusiasm, the first episode of the Bolt Broadcast highlighted the 2009 Bell Game. Enthusiasm grew rapidly and the Bolt Broadcast became a class in the Spring of 2010.

Season 02

2010 - 2011

For Bolt TV’s second season the majority of the founders had graduated leaving only two founding members: Sara Petersen and Ellie Morrissey. In addition, our second year also marked the arrival of  Zach Zombek, Brent Spaulding, and Jeff DuBrock. Sara took over as News Director and Ellie as Associate Producer and co-host along with Jeff DuBrock.

The second season also marked a name change from The Bolt Broadcast to Bolt TV due to The Bolt Broadcast sounding too similar to our crosstown rivals, the Baron Broadcast News.

Season 03

2011 - 2012

The third season began our partnership with FilmED Academy of the Arts and was once again led by Sara Petersen as News Director with Jeff DuBrock moving up as Associate Producer.

This year brought Bolt TV’s first win at the Orange County Film Festival. We won The 24 Hour for Come Back Home, directed by Jeff DuBrock.

Season 04

2012 - 2013

Bolt TV was hard hit by graduation at the end of the third season. Senior to be Jeff DuBrock was expected to take over as news Director, but he graduated a year early. This left Senior Josh Napier as our one returning student and the Season 4 News Director.

Season 4 was the 10th Anniversary of the Orange County Film Festival. In honor of the big event, OCFF was split across two days with the screening of films at the Lido Theater in Newport Beach and the actual awards show at The Grove of Anaheim.

Bolt TV received two nominations at OCFF: Best Independent for Pinned by Ashley Nunez and Best Independent for I Need Someone to Care by Anthony Gomez.
